Phase 1 Coronado Fitness Center opens
HSVPOA Coronado Fitness Center is open and ready for its patrons. Currently, there are 90-minute workout time blocks scheduled and availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. (See pdf below for the schedule.)
I arrived for the first session of the day at 5:45 am and Buffy (who works front counter) cheerfully greeted me while handing me the COVID-19 form to fill out. To enter the facility you must wear a mask. Also, bring your POA card and insurance card if you have insurance reimbursement.
Once in the weight room, your mask may be removed while working out. Due to the Governor’s 12-foot- between-machines requirement, there is a limited number of machines, but it is still possible to get a good work out during Phase 1.
When Phase 2 is implemented, the distance between workout machines should drop to 6 feet, thus allowing for the availability of more equipment.
For patron’s safety and to permit the maximum number of machines possible, during Phase 1, the indoor track is closed.
In addition to the indoor walking track, currently closed are the indoor pool, lockers, locker rooms, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. Exercise class times are adjusted.
There is plenty of hand sanitizer and also wipes for cleaning machines after use.
After each 90-minute session, there are 30 minutes between sessions in order for staff to thoroughly clean the equipment and facility.
There is a maximum of 30 patrons allowed per session and after reaching that number, the facility doors will be locked.
While the Coronado Fitness Center was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the staff was very busy performing needed tasks. One of the jobs they accomplished was applying a fresh coat of paint to the locker rooms and the hallway going to offices. Looks great!
The Coronado Fitness Staff is doing an excellent job of keeping the facility clean and sanitary for all of their patrons and diligently following the Governor’s guidelines.

Hi Myra. Thank you for commenting on Hot Springs Village People dot com. Here is a link to a calendar on the POA website that I think should be helpful:
