Hot Springs Village Numbers on Virus, Crime are Welcome News

State shows no active virus cases in the Village; 2019 crime numbers reflect a very safe community

For the first time, coronavirus figures for Hot Springs Village have been made available.  The state says there have been 39 cases reported in the 71909 zip code, which is mainly the Village.  There are an estimated 15,787 living in the zip code, of whom 14,307 (90.6 percent) are in the Village.

In an update today, the state showed no active cases in the Village.

Also today, the state released 2019 crime statistics for communities and counties.

Both sets of numbers should make Village residents feel quite safe.

Here’s a look at the latest number of coronavirus cases for every 10,000 people:

        Hot Springs Village – 24.7
        Bella Vista – 39.3
        Fayetteville – 87.0
        Benton – 92.5
        Hot Springs – 105.5
        Malvern – 117.8
        Conway – 119.6
        Little Rock – 119.7

   Counties:
        Saline – 66.1
        Garland – 74.0
        Pulaski – 116.7

States:
        Arkansas – 135.8
        Texas – 139.1
        Oklahoma – 87.5
        Missouri – 77.3
        Tennessee – 147.5
        Mississippi – 187.5
        Louisiana – 242.6

On the crime front, Village police handled 276 major crimes last year, or 192.9 for every 10,000 residents.  Here’s how the Village compares to other areas:

        Russellville – 358.2
        Little Rock – 431.8

There were 791 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the state today, bringing the total to 41,559.
