On April 18, 2021, first-line emergency workers responded to a chemical fire in a commercial building at 3595 North Highway 7. Among those responding were Arkansas State Police, Garland County Sheriff’s Department, Jessieville Fire Department, Piney Fire Department, the city of Hot Springs Fire Department along with their hazardous materials response team, Fountain Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Numerous other departments and agencies also responded to the blaze.
“Upon arrival, there was one structure and several outside covered storage units already consumed by fire. It was discovered that there were many firearms, ammunition, large numbers of barrels containing unknown chemicals, boats, and vehicles inside the building and inside the covered storage areas,” stated Fountain Lake Fire Department Chief Robert “Steven” Burroughs.
It has been reported that several Hot Springs Villagers lost their boats and recreational vehicles.
