On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., the HSVPOA Board will hold its second discussion session. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the meeting will be live-streamed but will not be open to in-person attendance by the public.
All topics at the discussion sessions are for discussion only and will not be voted on during these sessions. The discussion sessions are being held for the purpose of discussing items that will come before the Board at the next Regular Monthly Board Meeting and for answering questions from the community on these particular topics. Questions from the community may be submitted to boardmembers@hsvpoa.org. Off-topic questions from the community will not be addressed. Any questions regarding operations should be addressed to the staff.
This month the Regular Board Meeting is being held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.
It appears the Board is taking back their authority from management. They are fulfilling their campaign pledges. Property Owners should be patient as the Board works to untangle the mess created in the last five or six years and also lend their support to this Board as they navigate their way through this process.
Due to time restraints, this article will not be fully developed but serve to provide the following PDFs for information purposes. The Work Session meeting on May 13, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. will be fully reported on.

I like the proposed changes

Finally, some policies and procedures that actually look applicable to managing a real business. As opposed to the Board simply handing control to one individual and shrugging off both accountability and resposibility.

Andy, you are spot on correct. Finally. It has been a long uphill battle for us all.
Our new Board is composed of seasoned professionals and this article shows they are equipped with the right knowledge and experience and are determined to handle things properly instead of kicking the multiple cans down the road.

Sadly the old boards did more than shrug off their responsibility. They aided and abetted in the whole CMP, “ceo” fiasco.
They were complicit in all of it.
Most glaring is then”contract” they agreed to for our little “ceo”.
It is the worst contract ever negotiated by any community. That much is certain.
These past board members should be ashamed of their behavior.
Sadly, they are not.

This is a hard working board, including secretary and treasurer. What a fine team we have assembled. I so respect their dedication.
As for me and my house we will serve this board.

I agree that the entire board is working very hard, and the involvement and contributions of the Secretary and Treasurer were especially evident in today’s meeting.
Getting us back on track will take a tremendous amount of work sorting out all the minute details that were inserted into our governing documents to funnel control to the “ceo” rather than the Board, where it belongs.
In the immediate future the Secretary and Treasurer will be at the forefront of keeping track of and directing all those details to put control back in the hands of the Board. They are doing Yeoman’s work so far as I can see.

Thanks Joe for the reporting. I believe the majority of property owners support this new BOD but you’re right, taking back their authority won’t be easy or fast.—Gene

Don’t know about anybody else but for me the session turned out to be a big disappointment. It’s obvious there is still a power struggle going on between Nalley and the Board. Even Nalley’s “lieutenant” Mathis, who was the only hired hand present at the meeting, kept Board Members at bay for most of the discussions.
Nalley on the phone (she doesn’t even need to be there to rule) again invoked her “contract” to shut down Board desires and actions. Long past time for her to go and this Board to assume full power. I’m tired of waiting.
We still have a Treasurer who can’t do much because he is still cut off from access to the information he needs. He should have full access to all accounting and management software but a big smoke screen was thrown up by Nalley and Mathis. All BS. The Board basically ended up begging for the right to let him talk with Mathis whenever he wanted something. Sad.
Tempted to write more on this but still holding out hope.

I understand your disappointment, and have long been a fan of your analysis and ideas, but — “WHAT MINN SAID!”
Having had experience in picking apart spaghetti bowls of intertwined documents and putting them back together to accomplish better goals (like focusing control back where it belongs), I started working through some of the Governing Documents, hoping to find a few areas that could just be quickly amended while the BOD takes the time to implement the bigger picture. I realized very soon that it would DEFINITELY take legal guidance to prevent any missteps with our Governing Documents.
And that goes DOUBLE for the infamous contract!
I think the BOD has a firm grasp on what needs to be done, and in what order those things need to happen. I beg of all of us in HSV — just be a little more patient. It’s been less than a month!! They are fulfilling their promises, but they have to do it the right way, and that takes more time.

Tom, agree with you on the issues of financial issues today, on compromises with CEO & staff. However our BOD is just beginning & with hopes that this will be solved sooner rather than later. If there are article issues then let Rose law correct the article issues. Chuck Alford also stated this on the secretariat issues. Remember we have not in the past ten years have had a BOD that wanted to take charge of all things HSV, now we have one. We also must understand that unti attorneys give advice to BOD on CEO contract issues our BOD must be aware of all concise issues that may arrive to face them. I like you would love for them to walk in & take total charge, however legacy BOD made this an impossible task without attorney intervention. You have my support but I also have understanding for this NEW BOD & the MESS HSV is in. Minn Daly
