Due to overwhelming popularity, the Rotary Club of HSV is again hosting their Annual Mother’s Day celebration. Due to COVID-19 though, this year things are being done a little differently. After all, necessity is the mother of invention.

Rotary Club of HSV announcement on Facebook

“Like events across our community, the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village was forced to announce the cancellation of its annual “Champagne and Roses” Mother’s Day Celebration due to Covid-19. However, due to popular demand and a partnership with popular restaurateur Greg Jones, Mother’s Day is back as a “Take-out” event.”

“On Sunday, May 10, from noon to 2 p.m., Villagers can honor special ladies in their lives with a delicious take-out luncheon from Xplore Lakeside, adjacent to Balboa Beach and the pavilion. Patrons can support a local business as well as furthering the good work of Rotary in our community.”

According to HSV Rotary President John Weidert, “Rotary’s motto is Service Above Self, so we strive to do things that are for the good of our community. Having this take-out Mother’s Day event certainly fits that definition.”

“The individual ticket price of $20 includes a full course take-out meal with dessert plus a beautiful rose. Each reservation will be assigned a pick-up time between noon and 2 pm.”

Mother’s Day Menu

“The menu includes seasonal green salad with choice of Champagne vinaigrette or buttermilk green goddess dressing, plus bread. The entrée is grilled chicken and mushroom marsala served with creamy whipped potatoes and fresh green beans. Dessert is a slice of Melody’s Famous Homemade Carrot Cake. Champagne and wine are optional for purchase.”

Please call ahead to reserve your ticket

“These take-out meals are limited. Patrons are encouraged to reserve tickets as soon as possible by calling Lydia McCarthy at 714-815-9650 by Thursday, May 7, at 3 p.m. She will provide a ticket number to include on the memo line of your check along with a time slot to pick up your meal. Checks should be mailed to Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village, PO Box 8065, Hot Springs Village, AR 71910-8065.”

HSV Rotary Club- “service above self”

The Rotary Club of HSV was chartered in 1985 and as mentioned above, promotes “service above self.” The members raise money for local, national and international charities. They also sponsor HSV community social activities such as the Mothers’ Day event.

Rotary Club of HSV meetings

Normally, the club meets weekly on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. at the Fireside Dining Room, Good Samaritan Society, located at 121 Cortez Rd, HSV, AR 71909.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village held its April 2020 meeting in President John Weidert’s basement. This location allowed for the organization to achieve proper social distancing requirements. A few of the members gathered to conduct the meeting and Village videographer, Larry Wilson, recorded and uploaded this recording on YouTube. Click here to view the April meeting.
