State shows no active virus cases in the Village; 2019 crime numbers reflect a very safe community
For the first time, coronavirus figures for Hot Springs Village have been made available. The state says there have been 39 cases reported in the 71909 zip code, which is mainly the Village. There are an estimated 15,787 living in the zip code, of whom 14,307 (90.6 percent) are in the Village.

Also today, the state released 2019 crime statistics for communities and counties.

Frank indicates that the major crime rate in HSV is 192.9 per 10,000 residents and that the Village police handled 276 crimes. These are staggering figures. I assume a “major crime”is more than a barking dog or entering the Village without a valid sticker. Why aren’t we reading more about these crimes in our area?
