Fellow Saline County Residents,

First, I want to thank all of you who have already responded to the Census 2020.

Unfortunately, this week I was briefed on the current resident response rates for Saline County portion of Hot Springs Village.  Let’s just say…the rate was well behind our response rate from 2010.

I can talk about the impact census numbers have on government dollars etc, but the biggest impact this census number has for Hot Springs Village is OUR BRAGGING RIGHTS, both locally and nationally.  If we want to market our community as the Largest Gated Community in the US, we need to back that up with good population data.

How may you help?  If you have not completed the Census 2020 questionnaire, please click here to go to 2020 Census dot Gov. If you have already responded, how about encouraging your neighbors and friends here in HSV to respond.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide to get an accurate Census 2020 count of all of us who enjoy the place we call home.

Editor’s note: This article is specifically about Saline County, but it is important that those of us who live in Garland County also take the census. It is very easy to do.

According to United States Census 2020:

“The results of this once-a-decade count determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives. They are also used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.

“Over the next decade, lawmakers, business owners, and many others will use 2020 Census data to make critical decisions. The results will show where communities need new schools, new clinics, new roads, and more services for families, older adults, and children.

“The results will also inform how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated to more than 100 programs, including Medicaid, Head Start, block grants for community mental health services, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP.”
